Dean's feelings are mixed. On one hand, he's glad to hear his brother was happy, but on the other, he's sorry he dragged him away from that life. It was necessary, of course, but that doesn't entirely erase the guilt. It had always been their plan to eliminate old Yellow Eyes with their dad and then move on, but along the way, plans changed.
He smiles at Haley, resolutely pushing his feelings about Sam down. Today is about her, not him or his brother, and for the moment, he's happy just to enjoy breakfast with her irrespective of the terrible series of events that brought them together. All he said on the matter is, "At least one of us got to do the whole college thing."
